A Safe Place: Empowering Survivors, Breaking the Cycle
A Safe Place is the only organization in Lake County, Illinois, dedicated exclusively to supporting victims of domestic violence and human trafficking. Through our comprehensive programs, we provide survivors with the resources they need to rebuild their lives, prevent future abuse through targeted abuser intervention, and educate the community on how we can all work together to end these pervasive issues.
Our mission is to foster a community-wide response to domestic violence and human trafficking by raising awareness of their causes and teaching effective ways to address them. By breaking the cycle of abuse, we aim to create safer, healthier communities for all. We are proud to offer all of our services free of charge to survivors.
A Safe Place is a recognized 501(c)3 listed under Lake County Crisis Center for the Prevention & Treatment of Domestic Violence Inc.
Evaluating and providing group education for perpetrators of abuse to help them take responsibility for their actions and work toward rebuilding their lives.
Permanent, transitional, and scattered housing options are available for survivors, offering on-site counseling, advocacy, and life skills education to empower them to live independent, abuse-free lives.
Counseling services are available for individuals and groups in both English and Spanish, throughout Lake County, including Gurnee, Lake Forest, and Lake Zurich.
Provides court-ordered supervised visitations and monitored custody exchanges in a safe environment for families of domestic violence to rebuild relationships.
Located at the 19th Circuit Court in Waukegan, we provide victims with assistance in filing orders of protection and offer support as they navigate the court process.
Tailored programs are available for professionals, civic organizations, faith-based groups, businesses, corporations, and other communities to address and prevent domestic violence and human trafficking.
We offer healthy dating prevention education in schools to teach youth and teens about the warning signs of abusive relationships and the dynamics of the cycle of violence.
