Early intervention and prevention education are key to breaking the intergenerational cycle of violence. By increasing awareness and understanding, individuals in our community can learn how to recognize warning signs, safely intervene, and reject tolerance of domestic violence. Our society must hold individuals accountable for abusive behavior.
Through education, A Safe Place works to build a community where violence is neither tolerated nor hidden.
Topics can include:
A Safe Place service information
Myths and statistics surrounding domestic violence.
Dynamics of domestic violence, including power and control, types of abuse, red flags, the cycle of violence, and why survivors stay or go back
How to help: appropriate response and making referrals
Presentations are tailored to be age-appropriate and designed to meet the unique needs of diverse audiences. Training sessions are available for community members and professional groups throughout Lake County, Illinois.
