MENtoring Program

70% of boys who witness abuse go on to become abusers.

Men and boys play a critical role in helping to prevent sexual assault, domestic violence, stalking, and human trafficking. Men can choose not to perpetrate acts of violence and challenge those men who do. They can also challenge the ideals and attitudes that support violence against women.

A Safe Place offers a MENtoring program to model appropriate, non-abusive ways of interacting with others for boys ages 8-14. The program focuses on the issues related to male children who have witnessed domestic violence and provides a healthy context of what it means to be a man, modeling positive interactions and reinforcing healthy behaviors. The program is open to boys who have completed our 16-week support group program and includes field trips and fun and educational outings.

The overall goal of the program is to stop the perpetuation of domestic violence from one generation to the next.
