Crisis Response: Immediate Support for Victims of Domestic Violence
Leaving an abusive relationship is one of the most dangerous times for a victim—research shows that the risk of death increases ninefold when a victim attempts to leave. To address this critical need, A Safe Place offers a comprehensive Crisis Response program that expands our crisis line and follow-up services, responding to police domestic violence calls 24/7, 365 days a year, in the areas of Lake County with the highest rates of abuse.
Our Crisis Response Program Includes:
- 24/7, Immediate Support: A bilingual, on-call responder is dispatched to help victims immediately after a violent incident, once the abuser has been removed by law enforcement. Responders work to build trust and offer critical emotional support to help victims feel empowered to take the next steps toward safety.
- Safety Planning & Crisis Counseling: Victims receive personalized safety planning, crisis counseling, and immediate assistance with obtaining orders of protection.
- Referrals to Supportive Services: Victims are connected to ongoing support through A Safe Place and our partner organizations, ensuring access to comprehensive services such as housing, legal support, and counseling.
- Support for Human Trafficking Victims: Our responders also assist individuals escaping human trafficking, helping them with immediate needs like housing, emotional support, and referrals to law enforcement and partner organizations.
All services provided through the Crisis Response program are free of charge to clients.
