Professional Training

A Safe Place offers domestic violence training and education to address domestic violence assistance within various professions including: police departments, the sheriff’s department, attorneys, judges, survivor advocates, personnel from the State’s Attorney’s, probation, and Public Defender’s offices, emergency rooms, hospital, and other health care providers, social service agencies, clergy, and school administrators, faculty, and social workers.

Knowledge of specific patterns of domestic violence, the interpersonal dynamics of abuse, and the inherent danger are of great value to these people as they work with both victims and abusers.

The 40-hour domestic violence training program is now offered in formats that allow more accessibility to professionals in the social and legal service areas.
